"Gowanus Open Studios"
October 17 & 18 2015
168 7th St (between 2nd and 3rd Ave) 3rd Floor -
My studio is located in BAS (Brooklyn Art Space) along with around 35 other artists.
Over 300 artist studios and art venues will be open to the public from 12 PM - 6 PM on Saturday and Sunday - including Brooklyn Art Space & Trestle Gallery.
For one weekend each year, artists working in the former factories, warehouses, and studio buildings in Gowanus invite the public to visit their studios, see their work, and talk about their process. Last year 230 artists welcomed over 5,000 visitors into their studios.

And encourages us to look more closely at the world in which we live:
So... Open minds, Open windows, Open hands
Held at the Long Island Children's Museum
Long Island Children's Museum, 11 Davis Avenue, Garden City, NY 11530, (516) 224-5800
From
September 28,2013 to January 5,2014
Kooy's special community-building project: "Handprints Extravaganza!!"
This part of the "Openings" show was created during the artist's recent summer stay on Long Island's North Fork,
Where she (and willing volunteers) jointly hand-painted and pressed their unique hand-stamps,
onto several multi-paned glass windows. The "Handprints Extravaganza" windows represent a wildly diverse age-range
and size of human (and a few canine) paw and handprints.
Her partner Leonore Gordon created a photographic documentation of the participants and the process.

Myra Kooy fell in love with the natural beauty Long Island’s North Fork has to share.
This exhibit is an expression of the romantic dance that she shared with the Island
over the summer of 2013. Please come out and walk through the Installation and
enjoy the inside art gallery.
